"It is our hope that the children of our school system may learn from these pages and always be aware of their heritage....."

The Egg Harbor Township Tercentenary Committee dedicates this book to our co-worker, Margaret Stahling Cullen of Bargaintown, N. J. Because of her tireless efforts and interest, many may now and hereafter be enlightened of the origin and history of the township of which we are so proud.

This edition is the result of the enthusiasm for the historical facts of Egg Harbor Township held by Mrs. Cullen, a resident of that community and one of the editors of this book.

It is our hope that the children of our school system may learn from these pages and always be aware of their heritage.

(letter)

The History of Egg Harbor Township is a contribution to the New Jersey Tercentenary Celebration of l964. It is the fruit of endless hours of research and fact collecting about our 254 year old community.

A special note of recognition is hereby given to Mr. Joseph Henry Bennett, of English Creek, N. J., whose efforts have resulted in the plotting of the historical maps showing the one time villages, mills, shipyards, etc., that have now been replaced by a new era of civilization. Through the publication of this book — may they always he remembered.
