Jack Barnsley would become the critical link between the Bowdoin and US hams and the ARRL. Every night he was there, relaying messages with great skill. Without him and his excellent station the outcome of the radio experiment from the Arctic would have been much different.

Station 9BP is about 2000 miles to the southwest of the Bowdoin in Prince Rupert, BC. To better fix 9BP's location in your mind, Prince Rupert is the western terminus of the Canadian National Railway and is situated along the coast 500 miles north of Vancouver, BC.
